Car Week 2016

Well here are pictures from this year. I once again headed down to Monterey/Pebble Beach Car Week. This year was fun but I was sick and had a sore throat. I ended up having to give away my Concorso Italiano tickets to a friend, and had to turn down things like RM Auction in the evening. I still managed to push myself and did a fair bit. Oh well, maybe next year.

Picture quality varies here... most are quick shots with my iPhone... some are taken with my tiny old Canon point and shoot, particularly most of the car spotting pictures in Carmel. I sort of went for basic shots and quick this year. Based on how I was feeling, I didn't spent a lot of time framing pictures nicely and there are quite a few from 17 mile drive as it was easier to drive than walk around. Maybe next time I'll put more thought in. There are a few credited shots from my friend Gus who had proper camera gear.

There are around 700-800 photos here so give it time to load...

Getting there...

Here are some shots from the drive down...

Cleaned and covered and ready to go...

I always take one shot before it gets dirty...

Porsche Werks Reunion

Friday is the day for most of the main brand concours events. We went to Werks Reunion which is the Porsche event. The parking lot alone was worth of its own car show.

Ready to enter!

This is just the nice car parking lot area!

Gus took a couple of nice pics of my car...so here they are...

No gap...and super pointy lug nut covers...

They say if the shirt matches...

If you were to try to do your own version of RWB on a 968 this would be what would come out the other end...

and I shall call him Slanty.

There was a random Spyker C8 parked in the lot when we got back..made for some nice shots.

Gotta love the aircraft inspired interior.

The Quail / Baja Cantina Area

I always like to go to the Quail area even if I don't have tickets since the parking lot alone is usually worth of photos. Unfortunately this year they reversed all the entry areas. So the main entry was the service and vice versa. This meant we stopped by the Lambo area and Baja Cantina but that was about it as we pulled to the wrong street. However we did see a Revzani Beast X on the way down.

That's right...we hunted down a new Revzani Beast X on the way over! Crazy!

Exotics on Cannery Row

Friday afternoon is the free Exotics on Cannery Row event. This event has some seriously off the hook exotics on display if you are into that sort of thing. It's basically the street right at Monterey Bay aquarium that is closed off for the event.

This is how you unload a P1 and other cars for EOCR.

McLaren 675LT. Also blue.

Random BMW M1 just happens to be staying at this hotel.

About 1000hp right there.

Probably one of the coolest cars there...haha.

They started rev-ing the GT Aston Martin race car... it was so loud I decided to step away. See my youTube video for audio.

Oh look I ended up with a Cayman parking buddy...hehe.

Car Spotting Pacific Grove Friday Evening

While I didn't stop to check out the cars for the Pacific Grove Rally as we were at EOCR there are always some stragglers and other cars left in Pacific Grove during dinner time.

Good Night!

Saturday Morning Car Spotting

When you wake up it is always nice to see what other fun cars are parked at your motel...

I had seen the Daytona under covers the day before...

Yes please...

Where did he come from...

Saturday Inn on Spanish Bay / Retro Auto

The Inn on Spanish Bay always has fun cars lined up our front for Retro Auto. Plus being one of the high end hotels usually has a parking lot full of interesting vehicles to check out. Since it's right inside the entrance for 17 mile drive, I stop there to check out what's new.

There are always fun cars in the parking lot at the Inn on Spanish Bay

I think my money needs to go to mods before it goes to custom made leather jackets...

Example of some of the stuff you find in Retro Auto

Amalgram once again had their model cars there. Most are around $10,000-$12,000.

Back outside with the Muira and people waiting to Valet.

Oh look... RACEWIFE's Ferrari La Ferrari outside in the parking lot.

Parking lot is full of goodies...

I didn't really take pictures of all the Bentley's because there were too many.

Saturday 17 Mile Drive Morning / Gooding & Co. / The Lodge Visit

Even if you don't have tickets to the main Pebble Beach show for Sunday, you can often check out cool stuff on Saturday. It means parking in the lot by Gooding & Co. auction house and walking down to the Lodge. I got there too early to see the concept car lawn setup but it is still cool to visit. Like the Quail this year seemed to have a lot more police oversight mixed with lots of no-parking signs and ropes along the way. In years past cars often would overflow onto side roads. They didn't seem to want that to happen this year. Plus driving 17 Mile drive usually means passing other fun cars and stuff too.

This view never gets old. Love the ocean!

Time to bring on some car selfies...sorry...keep scrolling...

Bird was king of the hill.

You thought I was done already didn't you?

This guy showed up with a nice camera and took some photos for me...still need to get them.

Apparently he works at Tesla.

Ok let's continue!

Parking by the Gooding & Co. area visitor lot.

Got here too early to see any concept cars. Oh well.

I got to spy on the new Bugatti Chiron tho.

Walked back up just as Nadeem and his P1 and crew were going by...

Back checking out cars in the lot.

Porsche Peeps

This is why your cars get dirty parking here...oh well.

Porsches are everywhere.

Stuff you see on the way to lunch.

Nice blue Dodge Viper ACR.

Portola Hotel & Spa was really undergoing a lot of construction.

Let's do 17 Mile Drive Again on Saturday Afternoon!

Since I wasn't feeling well and figured there would likely be more fun cars on the road later I opted to do 17 Mile drive again. I was right.

Corvette and Deer crossing.

Nice soundng Maserati jumped in front while I was taking pics.

oh deer.

Had a little early morning drive.

I know...another red car photo...

Morris Minor parked at Cypress Tree with an i8 passing behind.

I lost count how many i8's went by there were so many. They must have been having a little rally.

Yep it's another i8.

I really like the 650S

Cypress Tree.

Went back around found this...

It was DoctaM3 and his blue huracan.

Doing a drive by.

I decided to continue on as there weren't many cars going by...this was why...a big group down a few stops later.

Yeah they let me photobomb them.

Mercedes

Stick bug on our motel.

Car Spotting in Carmel Saturday Evening

By dinner time it's good to relax for a bit and if you ever visit Carmel itself during car week you know there are always tons of fun cars both parked and continually driving by. At one point I was seeing an exotic go by every 5-10 seconds or so.

Holy cow...this thing was fast.

Parking

I was very careful not to back too far up into this.

The toy store knew how to market.

Was still there.

Sunday Morning - 17 Mile Drive Spotting

I didn't have ticket for Sunday's main event but I decided to check out 17 mile drive just to see how crowded it gets and to relax at the ocean before I had to leave.

Why did I walk so far?

Sea Lions

Parking areas were already filling up and busses going.

Why?

BMW Z8

Oh deer again.

Busses

Sunday Morning - Inn at Spanish Bay

Since I was already there why not check out the parking lot one last time at the Inn at Spanish Bay.

Another Testarossa driving by while I take a picture of the one that is parked..hah.

Final stop at Carmel Sunday Afternoon

We decided to do some last shopping and then lunch down at Carmel before heading home. It was a bit quieter than Saturday since most stores don't open until 11am on Sunday plus most people were at the main Pebble Beach event. However there were still cool cars and by afternoon things picked up a bit as well.

Shopping

Apparently Aston Martin had an event there so all their cars were parked below.

Heavy breathing...

Nice place.

Oh my. I am prety sure this was real and not a Factory Five replica.

Missing wiper blade...

They really taped up the Exclusive Option car.

THE END!
